Born 1939 in Ottawa, Canada.


"She spent much of her early life in the northern Ontario and Quebec bush country and started writing at the age of five. A graduate from the University of Toronto, where she won a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, with a Masters degree from Radcliffe College, she has travelled extensively and held a wide variety of jobs.

She lives in Toronto, Canada with the writer Graeme Gibson and their daughter [1994].
