Jeff Noon, a Lancashire-based thirty six year-old (1995).

"At fourteen he taught himself guitar and went on to play in several punk/new wave bands in Manchester, the best known being Manicured Noise. He says he still writes the odd song and is still driven on by the energy he picked up from punk". --Jim McClellan (from the intro to an interview with Jeff Noon, 1995).

"Jeff Noon has been a pop musician (guitarist with Manicured Noise), a painter (exhibited as part of the Northern Young Contemporaries ) and a playwright. His first play, Woundings , won The Mobil Playwriting Competition, and he was subsequently playwright in residence at The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. Vurt , his first novel, won the 1994 Arthur C.Clarke Award". [publisher's bumpf, Pollen , 1995]

Lives in Littleborough, near Rochdale, England.
