Introduction to EDA

From an electronic circuit idea to a printed circuit board.

From an electronic circuit idea to a printed circuit board.

A starting point

EDA means electronic design automation: software tools for designing electronics. A schematic describes which components connect to one another. A PCB layout turns those connections into copper tracks, pads and holes on a physical board.

The work moves from choosing components and drawing the circuit to placing parts, routing tracks and checking design rules. Manufacturing files describe the board to a fabricator; a parts list supports assembly. Software checks catch many mistakes, but the finished circuit still needs measurement and testing. Here EDA connects naturally with ESP32 projects and the mechanical design of enclosures.
